By Josef Brandenburg

Priding myself on being one of Washington, DC's top personal trainers, I have made it my life's work to help others to get healthy. Sometimes this task can seem extremely overwhelming without someone to support and guide you. We all have an idea of what exercises are good and what exercises are bad, but what happens when it comes to food? There are so many conflicting reports, no fat, no carbs, low fat, fruitarian, vegetarian, vegan, its enough to make your head spin! Thankfully, you don't have to worry. You have Washington, DC's top personal trainer to guide you in the right direction! Here are my top five fitness foods for you to focus on in your quest to a healthy existence.

1. Grass Fed Beef: Now, I am sure you must be more than surprised that this is number one on my list considering the high fat content in beef. You must take into consideration that all beef is not created equal. It is not so much what we eat, but what you eat ate is important as well. Packed full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids, protein and fat burning CLA. It is also low in saturated fat and tastes terrific.

2. Turkey Bacon: This is my favorite side dish as I am sure many others would agree. It tastes great; it is high in protein and extremely versatile. Try it crumbled in a favorite salad or next to your egg white omelet in the morning.

3. Berries: Not only are they a great tasting replacement for your usual boring breakfast of cereal and toast, guaranteed to make your taste buds happy, they are considered the number 1 super food. You just cannot go wrong with them no matter which you choose strawberries, blackberries, blueberries or raspberries. The choice is yours they are chock full of vitamins not to mention healthy phytochemicals and anti oxidants. On top of all of that, even though when they are ripe they are really sweet, they are low in sugar and great for you!

4. Spinach: Tasty and versatile, Popeye knew what he was doing. As breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner you will be eating a food loaded with beta-carotene, which can help to prevent cataracts. It is also loaded with Vitamin C to boost the immune system and leutin, which helps to protect against macular degeneration. Why not try having for breakfast - spinach omelet, for lunch - spinach salad and for dinner - a side serving of spinach next to some grass fed beef. I see no deprivation in that diet!

5. Shrimp: Ready to serve in less than two minutes, it is a very lean protein. With shrimp, you will be offered vitamin D for your bones, vitamin b12 which gives energy, selenium for an antioxidant. At only 112 calories per 4 oz, serving shrimp is high in protein and low in fat. What isn't perfect about that?

Well, there you have it. You have just found out this Washington, DC's top personal trainers list of 5 super foods. Incorporate these into your diet and you will be doing your body and your health a great service. Your taste buds will also thank you along the way. - 17268
