Three Healthy Foods to Eat That Can Improve Your Health!

Do you make wise decisions on what you put into you and your family's diet? It can be challenging when we are bombarded with unhealthy food choices all the time or options that claim to be healthy, but really aren't.

Before there were man-made drugs to fight illnesses, people looked toward nature and the benefits you could receive through certain healthy foods. To eat well, was to live well! This topic has interested me for quite a while, beginning when I was pregnant. First, I wanted good nutrition, then I wanted more ENERGY while I was breastfeeding, and then I wanted to find what foods would aid in weight loss. Currently, I want to set a good example for my children and make sure they are getting the most out of their food.

Did you know that you can reduce certain symptoms, eliminate illness, and lower risks for diseases by choosing specific healthy foods to eat? For example, flax oil can help reduce the symptoms of ADHD while sardines and salmon can help with depression. Certain types of nuts have even been shown to help women lose weight.

You can honestly improve how you feel by choosing specific foods. You can increase your energy, fight off illnesses, and increase your immune capabilities by adding these three foods to your diet: acai, hazelnuts, and barley. While there are other "power house" foods such as these that you can add to your diet, this can be a start to improving your health.

Acai contains many antioxidants and has been shown to help protect the immune system from physical stress. It comes in juice or frozen pulp form, as it cannot be imported in actual berry form. Grown mainly in Brazil, it is a food staple in Amazon communities.

Hazelnuts can easily be added to your diet. You can put them into your baked goods such as breads and cookies, add them to your stir-frys, put them into your pancakes, throw them on a salad or into yogurt, or just eat plain or roasted. They are also high in antioxidents including phytonutrients and Vitamin E which help the body repair itself and strengthen the immune system.

Another healthy food to eat is Barley. Its main use for human consumption is in beer making, but it has been around for at least 10,000 years. Barley contains beta-glucans, which not only aid in immune function, but also with lowering cholesterol. While it should be noted that barley is not gluten-free, it can be used in many ways: grind into flour and use in baking, make into a hot cereal, or add to soups, stews, and salads.

All of these foods can be found at your local health food or grocery store and easily implemented into your diet plan. They can aid in your immune function and maybe even help you feel better! - 17268
