The Latest Trends in Fitness

By Elle Jaye

Don't let your fitness routine become a snore. Getting in shape or keeping that youthful appearance shouldn't be a chore. It should be fun! If you are in a rut or just want something different to really challenge your body, consider some of the newest trends others are using to look their best.

Kettlebells: this is an interesting way to tone up, so ditch the dumbbells every once in awhile and learn to swing the bells. These are cast iron "bells" that are shaped more like large circles with flat bottoms and handles at the top. They come in different sizes so you should probably start with smaller ones that weight a little less before advancing on to the larger ones.

The circle shaped handle on top is easy to grip with both hands and then you can swing them in large motions in different directions. Instead of focusing on one body part at a time you can work your entire body in a short period of time and burn off tons of calories.

The bells are available all over the internet and are now popping up in sporting goods stores. There are even new DVDs on the market to provide at home instruction on the most effective moves.

Dancing has always been a favorite type of exercise since everyone can do it, but the sensual burlesque dance has now hit the market big time. Hip hop is starting to die down some as more women are seeking ways to get in touch with their body while working it out.

It seems women are now enjoying their bodies as exercise classes on the stripper pole have become extremely popular as well. With burlesque, you can even put on your heels or a feather boa and use them as fat burning props.

Have you ever thought of working out with your favorite reality TV stars? If so, then popular DVDs featuring some of DVDs hottest stars may catch your interest. The Biggest Loser has always had their share of the market of course, but even Lisa Rinna has entered the mix with her own spin off from her Dancing with the Stars appearance.

Another popular workout series is with Kim Kardashian. Not only do these workouts provide a little extra motivation by being lead by some of the hottest bodies in Hollywood, but they deliver great workouts as well. Most are not just fluff.

Finally, whether you enjoyed the hula hoop as child or not, you have to at least try working with the weighted hoop. It is an excellent core workout that can deliver that ripped mid-section everyone wants. It is essentially a hula hoop that comes in various weights that can be used to twirl around your waist in different combinations of moves.

You don't necessarily need a DVD or other guidance to play around with the hoop and burn off some calories, though you may want to seek some ideas of what to do with it through the internet, a DVD, or a class at a gym.

Make fitness enjoyable and you are more likely to stick with it for the rest of your life. Not only is doing the same thing all the time boring, but it makes your body a less efficient fat burner as well. So, shake things up and make sure to check out the latest trends at least a couple times a year! - 17268
