Jump into Volleyball Training

By Bradley Dibbs

If you want to play volleyball better than what you are currently capable of then continue reading. You need to understand the rules and then work on jumping higher.

One thing that I have noticed is that any indoor player that practices by playing beach volleyball is a lot better than those that don't. Why is this you may ask? Well, when you play 2 on 2 in the sand you have to be faster and develop more skills and these will transfer over to indoor.

I would never recommend that a beach volleyball player ever practice on a hard court because it doesn't work that way. The challenge comes from moving in the sand.

If you can move fast in sand you will do great on a hard court because it doesn't shift around like sand. Also jumping is a thousand times harder in sand.

When you try to jump in sand you will realize that it takes a lot of energy to do and once you get use to it you will be jumping very high on the court. You will get use to jumping with all your force and then on a hard court it will feel super easy.

The form you use when jumping out of sand if much different than indoor jumping. You can't do your broad jump so you will be jumping up instead forward.

Developing all of your skills will turn you into a very well rounded player and open up more opportunities to you. You won't always be playing the position you play now.

Plyometrics are a great way to improve your jumping ability in volleyball. You simply need to practice jumping just as you would any other part of your game to get better at it. Training with the right training programs to jump higher will add inches to your vertical. - 17268
