What are the Health Benefits of Oolong Tea?

By Jared Rothe

Oolong tea is a semi fermented tea plant camellia sinensis and has a lot of long term health benefits. Many have reported that tea can have negative side effects. It is true but only when you drink tea too excessively. You can drink around 4-5 cups of tea on a daily basis.

Black tea which is common in the us is fermented more so it loses a lot of its healthy benefits. Oolong has a higher amount of polyphenol because it is just semi fermented. It contains more minerals. Polyphenols are known as tannin in their scientific language.

So, what are the health benefits of oolong? It contains a wide variety of polyphenols that can bring so many great health benefits to a regular tea drinker. One such effect is detoxification and the reduction of triglycerides.

Oolong tea is a supplement that many people in China have used to lose weight. They do so because of the lowering of triglycerides which cause fat to accumulate in the body. When you combine exercise and a good diet with oolong tea it can help your body lose weight.

The polyphenols help to melt fat away that is excreted out of our systems. Oolong tea helps this by metabolizing fats faster than normal.

In an experiment rats in a laboratory were given the same meals and one isolated group of rats was given oolong tea instead of water. The results were amazing, the rats that were given the oolong tea lost significantly more weight than the rats that drank only water.

Aside from aiding in weight reduction, many people reduced their risks of suffering from high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, weak immune system, digestive problems, skin problems, and acute stress. - 17268
