What You Know About Dr. Oz and Acai Berry May Not Be True

By Travis Van Slooten

With Dr. Oz being a familiar face in the Oprah Winfrey Show, some acai companies have also been building up an implied Dr. Oz - acai berry endorsement, much as they have done with Oprah herself and another popular talk show host, Rachael Ray. It seems that these people will stop at nothing to get their products off the shelves, even if it means making some claims that are absolutely baseless. These celebrities are now rushing to issue statements that would clear things up about these supposed endorsements.

What Do These Companies Claim?

While celebrities are often very careful about having their names tied to any product they don't really believe in, these supplement companies find it easy to make statements like "as seen on Rachael Ray" or "as endorsed by Dr. Oz" to make it appear that these tv personalities are really backing up their product. If you come across any site or company using this marketing strategy, by all means leave that site and don't look back.

What is the Truth?

There is a connection between Dr. Oz and acai berry. However, it is not a connection to any specific product. Dr. Oz has touted the benefits of the acai berry and even recommended it as a supplement. He fully supports taking acai berry and backs the evidence that it is a very powerful super fruit worth your consideration. But there is no connection to any specific products and there likely never will be. If a company is trying to sell you a product with the recommendation of Dr. Oz, you can be assured they are doing it without his consent.

How Dr. Oz is Fighting Back

The biggest thing that has been done is an open statement by Oprah and Dr. Oz that they have no connections with any acai products. While they confirm that the Dr. Oz and acai berry connection exists, it is only between the celebrity doctor and the fruit itself. Harpo, Oprah's company, has also begun pursuing offending companies legally. Lawyers from Oprah's company have made it clear that they will not tolerate any companies using their endorsement.

You should avoid any company that claims to have ties to Dr. Oz through their acai berry product. They are already displaying to you that they have shady credibility. They may be a company looking to quickly take as many peoples' money as possible, or they may just be trying to exploit celebrity popularity in order to sell their product. Either way, any company claiming a Dr. Oz -acai berry connection to their product is not worth wasting your time with! - 17268
