Article 17: Day Three on VLCD

Alright. Yesterday was a bit rough. I broke the diet and it was only my second day on the very low calorie portion of my HCG program. But in my defense...the mall food court absolutely overwhelmed my sense of self. They arrange it in a semi-circle so it seems as if there's no way to escape. And my kids were taking FOREVER to eat their deep fried food with all the yummy (sugar filled) sauces! Alright...alright. I'll stop defending myself and just move on!

So I'll get right down to it...I got up this morning and got on the scale. I went down; surprising since yesterday didn't go well. I was at 163.

After I weighed myself I took my B-Total and my HCG drops. I whipped out my booklet that came with my products and gave it a quick read through. Then I got online and looked up Dr. Simeons protocol. I decided to call the hcg weight loss cure guide a supplemental guide to Dr. Simeons HCG cure protocol ebook. That's how I ended up spending the morning reading it online. I decided that maybe I'd be less likely to break the diet if I read more of the background information.

I'd heard or read most of it before, but a refresher is always good. Maybe if I read a bit of protocol update every day I'll be less likely to fall off the wagon again. I definitely want to take advantage of all the weight loss possible while on the diet. I don't want to waste my efforts!

I took my second set of HCG drops before noon. I made turkey chili for lunch (lots of fresh tomatoes). I always find that any soup I make with fresh tomatoes in it turns out really tasty. And so far that's so true when it comes to the recipes in the HCG cookbook! I'll also give you a tip regarding the Melba Toast. Try the Spicy 3 Pepper flavor. They're amazing. I think I'll like them even when I'm not on the diet. They're definitely WAY better than the original. I had a snack in the afternoon...an apple (Gala are my favorite).

For dinner I had grilled chicken seasoned with Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning (after I took my HCG, of course). The Creole seasoning is a classic that we should all keep stocked in our pantries. If you don't love it; I'll be shocked. With the chicken we had asparagus and for dessert we had strawberries. I made enough for all of us since the kids really like chicken and I thought they should attempt to eat asparagus. They've never had it before. It didn't go over very well with them, but I thought it was pretty good. I drank a ton of water because I had to stay up late to work and I couldn't have any type of snack. So that's probably a good thing. Even though I'll be waking up to go to the bathroom constantly tonight, I'm sure! - 17268

This is a very quick way to see a full picture of how your body reacts to different foods. The only real down side to having a blood test though is that it can cost quite a lot of money.

The Pulse Test

A free alternative is the Pulse Test. This can be done at home. The disadvantage is that it is more time consuming, but it is free, so it's worth considering if you don't have any spare money.

How to do the pulse test:

Before you do the pulse test, you must remove all suspected foods from your diet, and avoid eating them for a few weeks. Once you have done that, you can do the pulse test for each item of food (giving a break of 10 days between each test):

1. Prepare yourself a snack or meal containing a large amount of the particularly food.

2. Sit or lie down, until you are totally relaxed.

3. Once you feel totally relaxed, take your pulse. This is your resting pulse rate. Make a note of it.

4. Eat the food.

5. Take your pulse rate at 5, 10, 30 and 60 minutes after eating the food. Write each number down. Also note any immediate symptoms, if there are any (not always).

6. Once you have recorded your pulse rate at the above times, look at the numbers. Are any of the numbers 10 or more points higher than your resting number? If so, then this indicates that your body felt challenged by the food.

7. Over the following 3 days, record any symptoms you experiences. Food intolerance symptoms can appear up to 3 days later. - 17268

Getting into Shape without the Expense

You've probably taken notice of the colorful and usually ridiculous commercials that claim to have a product that can give you the muscle mass you want in a rather short amount of time. Such products do not normally work. What they will do however is hurt your body and even deplete your wallet if given a chance.

Instead, try utilizing the effective and cost-free method outlined in this article. With the knowledge of how your workout routine should be orchestrated, you have all the tools you need to build a great physique.

The first thing you need to do is look at yourself in the mirror and determine who you want to be, and what you want to look like. Do you want to be huge? Do you want to be totally ripped like a movie star? The truth is that most men would like to be somewhere in between the two. Not huge, but not small either.

Muscular Tone Accent: The first thing you need to do is build up the muscle. It really makes no sense to start a cardio program if you have no muscle mass. After all, the idea is to refine the muscle mass. Start a routine similar to one that a person would use to build large muscle mass. Soon enough you will be able to switch over to a completely different routine.

Cardiovascular training is very important. You want to be able to stay slender, and keep your body fat at low levels. The first thing you will want to do when starting your workout is warm up with ten repetitions of the exercise you have chosen for your muscle groups.

What you would want to do is six to eight repetitions with four sets for each exercise. Each day you will want to work out the following: Chest and Triceps, Back and Biceps, Legs and Shoulders.

Perform 3 or 4 exercises in each major muscle category. Biceps and triceps require less work than chest and back when worked on the same day (as they should be), as working back also works your biceps, and working chest also works your triceps. Maintain this regimentation until you begin to build a muscular base.

One thing that you should really do is start adding 'big lifts' into your everyday routine. This could include squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and many others. Doing this will build up your muscles rather quickly.

There will come a time when you finally have the muscle that you have always dreamed of. But it's not time to quit! Now you need to increase the number of repetitions you do! An ideal number would be an additional eight to twelve. In addition to this you should increase your cardiovascular exercises, and in doing so you will increase your muscle tone. Diet is also very important, and you should bear this in mind as your exercise.

Accent: Now you need to do 6-8 repetitions in the same muscle group as the last time. The big difference here though is that you won't raise your repetitions. The idea here is to cut back on the repetitions, and in doing so your muscles will become accustomed to fewer and fewer. Soon enough you will be able to cut down on your total repetition and achieve the same effects.

As you go along, increase the number of weights that you use. This will help you to reach that optimum fitness that you want. Your muscles will be shocked, the fibers will tear. Your goal is to increase the size of your muscle, and so long as you follow these directions, you will do just that.

Form is everything. If you do not perform the exercises correctly you may end up hurting yourself, and ultimately gaining nothing. Not long ago, a well-known star made the headlines when he made an environmental plea for everyone to adopt a high protein vegetarian diet. He was not even advocating a total abstinence from meat - just one day a week. Many of the newspapers that covered the story were unkind. What the media almost universally overlooked was the truth behind his words. If everyone understood the facts about vegetarianism, they would understand why so many people have given up meat eating and felt better for it. Looking at the subject from an environmental standpoint, there are a number of reasons to turn away from eating meat on the scale most consume it, especially beef. Raising beef cattle requires enormous amounts of arable land that could produce far more nutritional food than the cattle can. This is a fact established by hard data that no one can truthfully deny.

If you have a very strong stomach, pay a visit to a meat processing plant. These are all located far away from large populations for a reason. They smell so bad, they literally make people sick. Those who are unfortunate enough to have to work in the plants or live nearby them have a higher than average incidence of a number of health complaints.

Unless you are a hardened killer, you will be shocked by what you see inside the meat processing plant. To call it inhumane is putting it mildly. While the killing process itself is not necessarily an environmental issue, it is a moral one. It is doubtful that you will reach for a shrink-wrapped sirloin steak quite so quickly after you have seen what happened at the slaughterhouse. You are more likely to turn away and go to the vegetable department and start your vegetarian diet!

This includes the Catholic Church, Judaism and the Muslim faith. While these religions do not advocate total abstinence, both Hinduism and Buddhism do advocate a strictly vegetarian diet. Best Ways To Burn Belly Fat

The question is always asked "In order to lose my belly, what is the most efficient way?" Aerobics, strength training, cardio, or intervals?

Well, to say I've done them all would be an understatement.

With over 15 years experience helping others, training myself, training for sports, spending countless hours in the gym, AND actually conducting laboratory research studies on different exercise methods, I'm pretty confident in knowing what works and what does not.

Time. Do you have it? For those of you who can't spend 90 minutes per day exercising I want to talk to you.

Exercise magazines portray that we need 90 minutes to exercise. People don't have that and disconnect.

You don't need 6-8 hours/week to exercise. Maybe if your goal is a triathlon you do. But for those of us trying to lose and tone there is still hope.

Therefore to get a better body, you need...

Use bodyweight exercises to warm-up, strength training supersets to build muscle, and then finish your workout with interval training to burn fat in a short amount of time. I've structured my system so that you are in and out of the gym in 45 minutes, three times per week.

Spend 5 minutes warming up with bodyweight exercise. If you spend 5 minutes on a treadmill it will only prepare you for more time on the treadmill. Using bodyweight will be much more efficient.

The next 20 minutes are going to be spent with strength training supersets. Use two exercises back to back with minimum rest in the middle. For this you will use basic exrcises and depending on your goal for muscle building possibly add more bodyweight exercises.

And finally, we'll do 18 minutes of interval training. A warm-up, followed by six short intervals at the appropriate fitness level for the client, interspersed with short periods of low-intensity recovery. Finish with a cool-down. And that's the workout. Again, about 45 minutes total.

That will be a much more effective workout than running, cycling, or a cardio machine for 45 min straight. Sure they all burn calories but they don't build a better body.

In fact, long slow cardio has a downside. We already know results are different. But overusing muscle groups leads to injuries and it is an inefficient form of exercise. When are you going to build your muscles and sculpt that beautiful body if you are on a cardio machine for 30-45 min straight?
