HCG Diet: Day 19

It's day 19 on my HCG Diet. I've lost another pound. It's like an amazing game that I'm winning. Every day I follow the rules and then I lose more weight. It's just lovely. It's exactly how a weight loss program is supposed to work!

Today I weighed myself a bit late in the morning. My daughter woke up in the middle of the night sick and I ended up most of the early morning hours. Once she fell back asleep it was too late for me to get back in bed so I stayed up. It threw me off my routine a bit.

Bodybuilding Workouts, Killing Your Muscle Gains

Some guy in the gym finishes a hard set of barbell squats and re-racks the weight. He feels really tired and he takes a big swig from his water bottle. He looks down at his watch and presses the start button to begin counting down backwards from 2 minutes.

Somebody told him that 2 minutes is the ideal rest time between sets in the gym, and he wants to get it exact. Every time the watch beeps, he'll be back in the squat rack to perform another set. He stands up tall and paces around trying to catch his breath in preparation for his next battle.

Time is up. His still feel weak and his heart is still beating a lot, he doesn't feel completely ok, but the watch beeped and that means his has to go back and perform another set, it doesn't matter how he feels.

He performs the next set. He is not really ready to exercise right now, so he puts forth a mediocre effort, finish the set, and waits for another 2 seconds. He is making a huge mistake, just as hundreds of lifters in another gyms.

By having a set rest interval between sets, he is forcing his body to train at an effort level that is far less than his maximum potential and is severely sacrificing the amount of muscle growth he can ultimately stimulate because of this.

Muscles grow because of an adaptive response to stress. You lift X amount of weight for Y number of reps, and your body adapts to this level of stress. In order to see continual gains in muscle size, you must continually force X and Y to higher and higher levels.

It's quite simple: it's about lifting as much weight for the greatest number of reps that you possibly can. And repeat, and repeat, and repeat...

If you don't rest enough between sets, you will not reach your maximum strength potential sacrificing the amount of weight you can lift, and also sacrificing the amount of muscle you can build. So, to begin the next set when you are still tired is the big mistake you should not make.

So, return to your exercise set when you feel you are again at 100% of your strength capacity. When will it be? When your body tell you so, listen to it an you will know when it is time to the next set.

A deadlift and a tricep pressdown aren't exactly in the same boat here. After a heavy set of deadlifts to failure I'll usually be resting for at least 5 minutes, often even more. A set of tricep pressdowns is obviously not as taxing and may only require a rest period of 2.5 minutes for me to feel fully recovered. - 17268

If the weight is going up because your stomach is getting bigger then you are eating too much. But be cautious, you can expect to put some bodyfat on when trying to put muscle on, but you want to monitor that the dreaded fat isn't going on to much.

Another good method of checking which is going up, muscle or fat is to use a set of body fat calipers. By using them every two weeks that will show exactly what is happening, if muscle is going down due to not eating enough then that will show with the calipers and you will need to eat more. If the calipers show that bodyfat percentage is going up then you need to eat less.

All good gyms will have a set of calipers and as long as the same person does the measurements every time you should be able to get a true reading as to what exactly is happening. Once you have obtained the amount of total millimeters and your bodyweight, the chart that comes with the calipers will show what bodyfat percentage you are.

If you get yor weight in pound and then multiply it by the percentage of bodyfat, that will give you your total bodyfat. Total bodyweight less the resulting figure will equal one's fat free mass. Although the figure has organs and muscle we use the entire model for the calculations including organs and bones.

You should record and keep the figures you calculated for total body fat and for fat free mass. When you have your measurements taken you can check to see if the percentage of bodyfat has increased. If you do the correct exercise and eat correctly then your body fat will go down. And with the decrease of body fat, you will find that your muscles and fat free mass will go up. If you are not eating correctly you will discover that your fat free mass, muscle is decreasing and the bodyfat is increasing. - 17268

It's Time To Do Yoga For Beginners

The first pose is called Easy Yoga Pose. You often see people meditating in this position. To begin, sit on your bottom with your legs crossed in front of you (knees bent). Put one foot towards your groin and the other on the floor. Sit up nice and tall, stretching your spine. Relax your shoulders. This should feel quite comfortable.

Tree Pose, also known as vrksasana, improves balancing ability. Mindfully, stand straight with your hands in a prayer position. The tips of your fingers should be pointing towards the ceiling. Keeping both hips squarely underneath you and begin to lift your left leg. Your foot will be sliding up the inside of your right leg until you reach the inside of your right thigh. Balance and do in reverse. Repeat standing on the left leg. It is completely fine to hold onto a table or chair if you need extra support to balance. Once both legs have been worked on, return to the starting position.

Downward-Facing Dog, also known as adho mukha svanasana is a great whole-body stretch. To do this pose, get down on your hands and knees. Your hands should be straight below your shoulders and your hips directly over your knees. Your back should be straight. Slowly bring your hands as far back as you can. Your body will look like the top part of a triangle with the floor as the base of the triangle. Lower your shoulders so they are not scrunched up towards your ears. Then, drop your head and just let it hang. Only go as far as you can with this pose without experiencing pain. Finish the pose by coming back to the starting position.

A very restful pose is the Child's Pose. Start from the Downward-Facing Dog position on your hands and knees. Then, slowly bring your bottom down towards your calves, folding your body up so that your stomach is near the floor. Hands can be out in front of you or at your sides.

The Cat and Cow Pose also starts from the Downward-Facing Dog Pose. Bend your toes under. Relax your shoulders and drop your stomach toward the ground. Your back will be concave. Hands and knees need to stay aligned with your shoulders and hips. Then stretch your back like a cat, arching upwards. Return to starting position.

Garland Pose is started from the standing position. Spread your feet shoulder-width apart. Go into a squat, putting your elbows against the inside of your knees and your hands in prayer position. Your fingertips should point towards the ceiling. Using your elbows gently push the inside of your knees. Relax your shoulders and keep your spine straight. Stay in this pose for about five breaths.

There you have five very simple poses that you can use to relieve tension, improve balance and flexibility. They were not too difficult, were they? And you probably feel much more relaxed than when you began. Now that you know yoga for beginners is not too hard, continue your practice and consider joining a yoga class in your community. Many creams are available just for hemorrhoids; however, most of these help with the pain and itching but don't really work to get rid of hemorrhoids. Not that it's not great to have those problems relieved, but you can also try a cream that has witch hazel in it. This herb is a great help in taking the swelling down from hemorrhoids. Plus it can help you with the itching and bleeding and promote healing.

A very helpful herb is Horse Chestnut. This herb helps with the inflammation experienced from hemorrhoids, and aids with the healing process. This is available as a tea or a pill also. But you may even be able to find Horse chestnut that can be used as a cream, however only apply this product to external hemorrhoids.

One herb that will work well to get rid of hemorrhoids is butcher's broom. This herb helps to end the swelling of hemorrhoids and will assist in them ending quicker. Like horse chestnut, butcher's broom is available as a tea or in a pill form. Remember that these are two different herbs; you cannot purchase them as one product. It is also not a good idea to combine different products to use at the same time.

Soaking in tub filled with warm water can help soothe the pain and tenderness of swollen hemorrhoids. Avoid using very hot water to avoid aggravating the painful hemorrhoids. You can also use a sitz bath. For added relief, try adding several drops of essential oil such as chamomile or lavender to the water.

Using herbal remedies can help the pain and calm the suffering you are having from those hemorrhoids. You can find most of these herbs in health food stores. Some retail vitamin stores and pharmacies also carry these types of herbs, usually in pill form. Check on the internet for additional sources to obtain these healing herbs to get rid of hemorrhoids. It's my 20th Day on HCG!

I feel like bursting into song...something about it being my 20th day on my 25 day HCG therapy for weight loss program. If I could sing at all (or compose likeable lyrics) I might actually do it. Even after I complete the 25 days I have to stick to more rules...the rules of the maintenance diet, but that's not nearly as strict as what I'm on right now.

But regardless of the additional time required for the maintenance diet I'm ecstatic to be able to say that I'm on my 20th day of the low calorie portion of the homeopathic HCG diet. Having said that...I didn't lose any weight today. But it didn't bother me because my jeans hardly fit. And I have to run to the store to look for a new belt. And that is a fun outing!

B-Total was the first thing I took today. Then I took my first HCG dose. I took my second before lunch and the third before dinner just like I usually do. I thought the no eating or drinking for 15 minutes before and after would really bother me, but it's not really that difficult at all.

I went out to buy a new blender (since my old one broke months ago) because I really like the sound of some of the smoothie recipes in the HCG Diet Direct Cookbook. The first one I decided to try was Orange Slush. I made it for lunch along with grilled chicken, asparagus and Melbas. I really like the slush and know the kids will love it, too. I immediately decided they could have it for breakfast before school tomorrow.

Dinner was baby spinach, Melba Toasts and grilled chicken. I got the baby spinach recipe from the HCG cookbook. I know that I'm not supposed to eat the same protein for lunch and dinner in the same day, but I was feeling extra, extra lazy and I broke that rule. There was already leftover chicken in the fridge, after all.

The kids were already in bed when I remembered that I was due a serving of fruit. I decided to go for another Orange Slush. Of course the blender made so much noise that the kids ended up in the kitchen. So we all had some. And they DO want it for breakfast in the morning! They thought it was fabulous. - 17268
