It's Day 18 on HCG

I love the HCG Diet. My 18th day was definitely a good one. I lost another pound; just one, but I'm feeling fabulous. It feels extra fabulous because I was stuck at 156 and I was just so excited to see a different number on the scale!

I woke up with the birds this morning; literally. The chirping and chatter they were making dragged me out of a sound sleep. I wasn't very happy about it. I'm a little surprised that I remembered to get right on the scale first thing since I was so bugged at the early wake up call. So the scale said I was at 155. And as I already noted...that was lovely.

I took my B-Total and got ready for the day. I took my HCG and then 15 minutes later I had some green tea. I still don't like the stuff, but I can stomach it in the name of weight loss.

I drank several glasses of water throughout the morning. Then for lunch I had leftover chicken asparagus soup. I really like that stuff. I didn't think it sounded fabulous when I decided to try it, but it's really quite good!

I allowed myself to have Melba Toasts today since I was able to break my plateau. They were perfect with my soup at lunch. I had an apple for an afternoon snack (I cut it up and drizzled lemon on it). It's a fabulous trick.

At dinner the leftover steak made its appearance. I tell you...leftovers are a lifesaver on the HCG diet. I also had my favorite Melba Toasts (Spicy 3 Pepper) and a tomato (sliced with balsamic vinaigrette). Eat a well-balanced diet.

It should be divided among carbohydrates (50-60%), protein (20-30%), and fat (20-30%). Have plenty of color on your plate. Your meal will be better balanced when it has a variety of foods in it. Cold, hot and room temperature foods also make for a more interesting meal.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily will help eliminate wastes and contagion in your system. Sometimes your body is just thirsty and your mind mistakes it for hunger. Drink water first then wait 10 minutes to see if you are still hungry.

Second, Mark Your Exercise Patterns.

A lower calorie diet can reduce your weight and fat deposits on your belly. However, it would not preserve or build muscles. Hence, now is the time for you to concentrate on your workout routine.

Cardiovascular exercise.

This is NOT rocket science. When you take on any form of physical activity, you burn calories. Therefore, the more intense the activity, the more calories you burn. The easier it is to also keep your weight under control.

It can be anything from walking to running, from dancing to cycling, and simply anything you like having fun with and simultaneously sweating out of it. You can have cardiovascular exercises 30-45 minutes, 3-5 days a week or daily.

Strength training.

Although your purpose is to have a six-pack abs, that does not mean that you have to engage on abdominal-specific exercises only. It is important that you are working out all the muscle groups of your body and not just your abdominal muscles. Remember that your muscles always work in unison. For example, when you stand up from a sitting position, you engage your abdominal and leg muscles (from your calves to your buttocks).

Therefore, it is not a great idea to work on your abdominal area everyday and ignore the other muscles it depends on to function properly. Work on all your major muscle groups 2-3 times a week.

Stretching.

After each workout, it is helpful to stretch for flexibility and relaxation.

Do not overlook the fact that when you are building six-pack abs, it takes a lot of hard work on your part to see any results. Stop wasting your money on DVDs and abdominal crunching equipment that cost hundreds of dollars promising you 6-pack abs in no time. The only way to get results is to do it the right way. Do not rely on easy-quick-fix solutions. You have to put hard work and dedication on it.

Still Rolling on HCG...Day 16!

I've got less than 10 days left on the low calorie portion of the HCG diet. That makes Day 16 one of my favorites so far. Here's a quick reminder of the program layout. It started off with 2 days of loading. Loading is eating a whole lot of food with a whole lot of fat content and therefore calories. While loading you start taking your HCG three times daily. It's supposed to increase the ability of the body to absorb the HCG product. After loading you start a 500 calorie per day portion of the diet. I chose to do the program that had me dieting for 23 days, but there are different lengths you can choose from.

After the low calorie portion of the diet the maintenance diet kicks in. On the maintenance you apparently can eat as much as you want of anything you want up to 1500 calories per day and excluding a pretty short list of items. You can't have sweeteners: sugar, dextrose, honey, molasses, artificial sweeteners, corn syrups, etc. You also can't have any nitrites, fast food or Trans fat. And you can't have any starch whatsoever. Man I'm going to miss homemade bread by the time this is all over. Or maybe I won't even like it anymore...who knows?

That's a pretty extensive exception, I know. But after the 500 calorie diet it sounds like heaven. I'm so used to limiting myself that the 1500 calorie per day maintenance diet is going to be a breeze; at least that's what I'm hoping. And it helps that the restrictive diet is actually working; seeing your weight drop is fabulous incentive to keep going.

So that's a general recap for you; now let's move on to the details of day 16. I was at 156 this morning when I weighed. That's exactly the same as yesterday which is a bummer because I ate really well yesterday. I decided that I'd add some green tea to today's regimen in response (still don't like it, but it seems to work) and I tried to drink more water.

I took my HCG and my B-Total as required for the HCG diet. I'm getting used to the timing required; no eating/drinking for 15 minutes before or after you take the drops three times per day. And the hold under your tongue for 15 seconds thing isn't a big deal. The stuff doesn't taste disgusting or anything. It's fine.

Today I ate another green onion burger for lunch (leftovers) with the other half of the grapefruit I had yesterday and Melba Toasts. For dinner I had the last of the grilled chicken I had in the fridge (leftovers again). And I drank so much water that I was afraid I might make myself throw up. So I'm crossing my fingers that tomorrow I'll see weight loss again. - 17268
