4. Go easy on the tea and coffee. They are pretty much harmless if you don't add a lot of cream and sugar to them. It is the cream and sugar that becomes fattening. Think of it this way, when you have a cup of coffee or tea with cream and two cubes of sugar, you are essentially eating a piece of chocolate cake every time.

5. Counting calories is a good idea, but don't overdo it. If it is a packaged food item, then it will have the calories on the packaging. Be sure to pay attention to serving sizes in terms of calories as well. This is where food producers get tricky and you must not fall in their trap.

6. Stay away from fried things. Fried things are an absolute no-no. The more fried things that you avoid, the lesser weight you will gain. Fried things are called so because they are fried in oil or fat. And even if the external oil is drained away, there is still a lot of hidden oil in it so stay away from it. - 17268

Tinnitus Symptoms

Have you ever heard a noise that seems to come from the inside of your head? If so, you have experienced tinnitus symptoms. At some point in your life you have undoubtedly experienced temporary tinnitus. It should be pointed out that tinnitus is not a medical condition; it is a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Tinnitus symptoms are acute or chronic and can be minor or major in the impact on the individual. There are 3 main causes for tinnitus including hearing loss, medication or loud noises.

A major cause of tinniuts is hearing loss. Cochlea damage due to trauma caused by prolonged or acute exposure to loud noise aging, diseases and infections of the ear and simple aging can cause hearing loss that is accompanied by tinnitus symptoms. It is theorized that tinnitus due to hearing loss may be the result of the brain not receiving expected auditory impact, triggering the blind-spot response, whereby the brain will fill-in missing information.

Exposure to loud sounds is a frequent cause of temporary tinnitus. Examples of when this might occur are; after attending a music concert; after watching an action movie in a theatre where the volume exceeded recommended levels; after using power tools in an enclosed space. The most commonly reported tinnitus symptom in these cases is a ringing in the ears. Prolonged exposure to a noisy environment without ear protection can result in permanent hearing damage and chronic tinnitus (see below).

Medications that can cause tinnitus symptoms include common aspirin if overused; quinine, a naturally occurring drug commonly used to treat malaria; and the powerful antibiotic aminoglycoside.

Tinnitus symptoms that are reported by some sufferers in addition to ringing are buzzing, a high pitched humming, roaring or whooshing, hissing, clicking, whistling and sounds like waves crashing.

Clicking sounds heard in the inner ear can be auditory signals that reach the inner ear through skeletal conduction. This sound is usually found to be caused by a misaligned jaw bone, but can also be caused by spasms of the muscles of the ear or throat. Tinnitus symptoms that involve the whoosh of blood being pumped through the vessels of the ear are know as pulsatile (as in pulse) tinnitus. Common causes of pulsatile tinnitus symptoms are high blood pressure, anemia or an overactive thyroid.

On rare occasions, tinnitus symptoms are attributable to tumors or cysts in the middle or inner ears. A tumor that presses on the blood vessels of the ear can cause pulsatile tinnitus. Tumors on the nerve that carries the signals from the ear to the acoustic processing center of the brain cause acoustic neuroma. This condition occurs in only one ear, which distinguishes it from other types of tinnitus and should be examined by a doctor immediately. - 17268

Why your muscles need a day of rest

Have you ever noticed that some people spend far too much time weightlifting? In fact, you may be one of those people yourself. It reminds me of when I took some personal lessons from a trainer in a local gym.

While I was there I noticed that there were a few trainees that seemed to be showing up every day and always hung out in the same area. They seemed to be performing the same exercises every day without any rest for the muscles. Meanwhile, I was just there to get some lessons for my trainer.

I've learned a few things about weightlifting, and I've also come to understand some mistakes among beginners. Over training is one of those common mistakes.

There are many symptoms of over training which result when your body experiences total exhaustion in the gym. When you work your body too hard for too long, your entire body will begin to suffer for it.

I'm not saying this will happen right away, but you need to get to know your body and how much rest you need. Even if you don't end up getting sick, you may be sabotaging your muscle building efforts by working out too often.

The basic principle here is that exercise stimulates your muscle to grow, as long as the muscle is challenged beyond its previous limits. However, the actual growth of the muscle occurs at rest, not in the gym.

Because the actual growth does not occur in the gym, the body needs a chance to recover from the workout. If you don't give it this chance, you may not be ready for your next weightlifting effort. You might find yourself unable to repeat your previous workout because of a lack of rest, and you might even end up becoming ill.

There are many ways on the market to lose weight. One of the most notable ones is Low carb dieting, that first originated with the Atkins diet. Many people have lost and gained and become frustrated and look for a simple and easy quick loss plan. Meal planning is simple, once you know what a carbohydrate food is, then it makes meal planning simpler. Higher protein foods make a huge difference to your weight loss goals too, especially if you are working out and/or doing a lot of activities and sports.

Like most restrictive fad diets some people who do a low carb diet do it for so long then fall off the wagon. Because of the high fat calorie content from meat this form of dieting has come under fire due to the fact some people have lost weight, but cholesterol has become elevated. Since the nature of this diet is high protein high fat it is recommended to seek medical advise prior to starting this plan. Also because of the restrictions on this plan people do well at the beginning then tend to trail off and chose foods not part of the plan.

Many of the foods that are quickest to prepare are based around carbohydrates - burgers in their buns, fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are high in carbs too. It is true that alcohol is generally restricted on any diet, because it is high in calories and very low in nutritional value, but low carb diets put particular emphasis on this. Still there are many foods that can be enjoyed on a low carb diet. If you are fond of meat you will relish the opportunity to consume beef, chicken and other animal products. Raw Meat

We've all heard this one, and a lot of us have seen, or perhaps we have even experienced, but raw meat, no matter how expensive the cut, is unable to help you cure the bruise. I've listened to plenty of discussions over what variety of meat is best suited for the job, and the simple fact is that they are all similar. The only benefit for putting raw meat against a bruise is that it presumably just came out of the freezer, and the coldness may help reduce swelling. The meat should be on your dinner plate, not on a bruise.
