Lose Belly Fat Diet - Low Carb Or Low Fat

By Gregory Gray

The general public wrongly believe a low fat diet is the way to lose belly fat. Several studies have shown that a locarb diet is indeed better for belly fat loss.

Way back to the early 70s, US citizens reduced their fat intake from forty percent to 34%. Yet, the obesity pandemic has been rising steeply since it commenced in the early 1980's. Why?

Exaggerated consumption of carbohydrates. Our primal ancestors lived on a hunters-gatherers diet of basically beef, veg, fruits, seeds and nuts. Grain wasn't even part of human diet till rural started about 10,000 years back. The increase in human population and decrease in hunted large game made it mandatory for humans to take on farming.

The evolution of human diet from typically animal sources to grain products ( refined carbs ) has led on to a fall in the quantity and quality of human life. Illnesses and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease which were once non-existent, are now commonplace.

Take a look at your existing diet. Are you consuming heaps of refined carbohydrates such as breads, pastas, cereals, cakes, biscuits and sugar? Excess consumption of refined carbohydrates prevents stored body fat from being used as energy. The body becomes changed to burning sugar as fuel and forgets how to burn fat.

Everyone wishes some carbs. In the body, carbs are converted into glucose as a main source of energy for the brain. New glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles. Only the glycogen in the liver can be converted back to glucose to be used by the brain when obligatory.

The body has limited capacity for storing carbs. Though the muscles can store more glycogen than the liver, its reserves cannot be broken down when energy is necessary by the brain. Once the glycogen reserves are full, excess carbs are converted into fat.

Eating a high carb meal could cause a spike in glucose levels. This prompts the pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream to lower the glucose levels. The bad news is insulin is a fat storage hormone. It tells the body to store excess carbohydrates as fat. Fluctuation in blood sugar levels causes longings for more carbs and hence, more fat storage replying to insulin. - 17268

Facts about Child Nutrition

By Beth Hoover

Being a parent, it is tough to compete against the highly unhealthy fast foods fun meals to be sure that our children are eating a healthy healthy diet. Preprocessed food is repetitively being publicized on telly, it is in our children's recreational areas through other kids, and it come in bright, exciting packing which is accompanied by toys. The difficulty is, when children are visiting preprocessed food cafeterias or eating 'fun meals' they're missing the healthy nutriments that should be filling their small stomachs. You should customarily confirm your kid's diet contains entire grains, fresh fruit and plants.

To guarantee their bones grow potent and healthy, they can also require a wonderful source of calcium.

Healthy sources of proteins include fish, eggs, meat, chickens, plant sources, and is going to be consumed on a consistent foundation for a healthy nutritious diet. Foods like these provide your kid with the vitamins micro nutrients and minerals, truthfully everything our kids need to build a potent, healthy body. There is no reason why your kid should be eating large amounts of sugar.

Sugar in a kid's diet is seriously bad for them and sadly is on the rise because of the highly refined instant foods available on superstore's shelves. Some pros disagree a child's behavior can be dictated by sugar in their diet, particularly in their activity levels, while others state that sugar intake doesn't perform a part. It likely relies on the individual kid. When a kid's blood glucose level falls below the standard limit, there is a release of adrenaline, known as hypoglycemia. There are plenty of signs and symptoms which will arise as a result like clamminess, shaking and modified behavior and thinking. This adrenaline release occurs at a higher glucose level in kids than that of adults. It is presumed sugar itself isn't the issue , it's the highly refined carbohydrates and sugars which, due to their refinement enter the arteries a lot quicker causing fast changes in a kid's blood glucose levels. By giving your youngster a high fiber breakfast like shredded wheat, oatmeal, bananas or berries, their adrenaline levels will remain at an incessant level letting them maintain concentration through their morning. You must ensure that their lunch box is packed with high fiber foods like multi grain bread, fruits allowing them to resume through their day without sudden changes in their blood glucose levels. A kid's insulin control could also be affected by processed sugars. Insulin dictates how much fat a child will store.

Sugars are found in nearly all foods. They're frequently referred to with different names like sucrose, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol or corn syrup. Sugar is in every we eat, particularly if it is processed or refined food. When you look at labels in the superstore, you can find sugar under a spread of different names which includes sucrose, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol, or corn syrup on nearly each label. The more basic meals from good good foods contain a load less sugar and thus are better for those little tummies. Fruit juice should really only be taken in tiny quantities as well as it contains a big amount of sugar. It is miles better to give your kids complete fruit which is far easier to digest. - 17268

Free Gym Workout Programs To Have Big Shoulders

By Ricardo d Argence

One important part of bodybuilding is the development of the shoulders. You will look great just standing there, and you will look even better when you strike a double-back bicep pose. If you develop your side deltoids in proportion to the biceps, the arms and biceps look large and well defined.

The shoulder region includes the posterior, medial, and anterior deltoid muscles. If you are including the whole shoulder girdle, then the rotator cuff muscles as well as the upper trapezius are included.

The deep rotator cuff muscles connect several parts of the thoracic region to the back, side, or front of the humerus. Upper trapezius muscles are the muscles that run from the back of the neck; extend to the medial deltoid, then downward to intersect with the middle trapezius. Going further back on the shoulder, below the lower portion of the upper trapezius, is the posterior deltoid muscle. The outer part of the shoulder is a where the medial deltoid lies, with the anterior deltoid muscle being visible outside of the pectoral muscles.

Either of your shoulders has an individual function when the arm is lifted. The arm is brought forwards, inwards, or rotated by the anterior deltoid. The medial deltoid allows the arm to move away from the side. When the arm is moved back or rotated outwards, the posterior deltoid comes into play. When the scapula is moved upward toward the ears, like shrugging your shoulders, the upper trapezius muscle does the job. Finally, the rotator cuff muscles provide stability to the arm when it is moving and allows the arm to rotate.

There are a number of exercises that will effectively build the shoulder area such as the military press, lateral raises, lying lateral raises, the Arnold press, behind the neck press, and bent-over lateral raises. The upright row in addition to bent-over rows will also help you build the shoulder area to magnificent proportions.

The key to building massive shoulders is to understand how the shoulder works and keeping it healthy. Nothing will halt your progress faster than an injury in the gym, so clearly injury should be avoided. One of the most common injuries is to the rotator cuff muscles. The muscles that make up the rotator cuff are not large strong muscles. In order to prevent any injuries try incorporating some band work into your shoulder workout.

To minimize injuries be sure that you are using the right amount of weight. You should be able to have control of the weight through the entire movement. If you find that you can only do partial reps or you need to shift the weight around, then the weight is too heavy. Using too much weight puts too much stress on the shoulder and is likely to cause injury. Be sure that you can maintain the proper technique and use the full range of motion before increasing the weight.

Although building up shoulder muscles takes a bit of effort, bodybuilders concur that the result justifies the work involved. Because each body grows at its own rate, research and patience are vital. - 17268

Following A Natural Diet - Eating Raw Foods

By Ali Bautista

The natural diet is also known as a raw food diet. In this diet the only foods you eat are uncooked and unprocessed plant foods, such as nuts, fresh fruit, sprouts, vegetables, dried fruit, seeds, beans, grains and seaweed. About 75% of all of the foods you eats should be live foods or raw foods.

The reason that eating raw food is important is because it is believed that the enzymes in food that are important for digestion are broken down and become inactive when they are cooked. It is also believed that any nutritional value in the food is severely decreased when the food is cooked.

Those that use the natural diet do so because they feel that it helps their heart, helps with digestion, improves their skin, helps with weight loss and gives them increased energy. Raw foods do not contain any of the bad fats such as saturated and Trans fat that can be quite damaging to their health.

Basically you can eat raw or whole foods, and organic products are preferred. Some foods that can be included in the diet are nuts, beans, legumes, seaweed, freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, young coconut milk, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, seeds, grains, dried fruit, unprocessed natural foods and purified water.

There are some cooking techniques you can use to make some of the foods easier to digest and this can also add a little variety to your meals. You can juice fruits in vegetables instead of eating them whole, you can dehydrate food, you can sprout grains, beans and seeds, you can soak dried fruit and nuts and you can blend.

There are a few known side effects. Many people have a reaction much like they are detoxifying their body. So when switching diets so dramatically you may experience food cravings or withdrawal symptoms. Some symptoms include nausea, cravings and mild headaches but these will only last for a few days. - 17268

Health Benefits of Carrots

By Jason Jones

Carrots are the greatest edible source of carotenoids known to us. Being powerful antioxidants, carotenoids protect us from harmful oxygen based molecules called oxidants. Oxidants can speed up aging and contribute to the development of certain health problems such as atherosclerosis and DNA damage.

The most abundant carotenoid in carrots is beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is also the first carotenoid to be discovered back in 1831 by Heinrich Wilhelm Ferdinand Wackenroder, one of the most well researched. Some time later researchers found that beta-carotene was transformed into vitamin A by the body, helping to prevent the once common problem of night blindness.

A deficiency in vitamin A is actually the root cause of night blindness. Vitamin A is needed to create another substance in the body called rhodopsin. Rhodopsin is a purple colored substance that allows the eye to see at night; without it we become night blind.

As antioxidants, beta-carotene and other carotenoids in carrots help protect the eyes from harmful oxygen molecules in UV light. These harmful molecules, also known as free radicals, attack healthy cells in the eyes. This damage is one major risk factor for the development of glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.

Carotenoids are also linked to protection from heart disease. Many studies have shown that a daily intake of carrots or other foods high in carotenes can reduce the risk of suffering a heart attack by more than half. Reduction in the development of other heart related problems like high cholesterol, is also associated with carotene intake.

If that's not enough, carotenoids and carrots are also associated with cancer protection. Studies show a high intake of carotenoids can cut the chances of developing some cancers in half. Such cancers include that of the lungs, prostate, colon and esophagus.

Carotenoids also protect us from becoming night blind when they are transformed into vitamin A. Some of this Vitamin A in turn is converted into rhodopsin, a purple plant pigment needed in the eye to see at night. Vitamin A deficiency will inevitably lead to night blindness and eventually complete blindness if not supplied in the diet.

Juicing fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to get a rich intake of carotenoids in your diet. Juicing also makes the carotenoids easily available for digestion, increasing the amount absorbed into the blood stream. A daily carrot juice will go a long way in helping you stay healthy! - 17268

Digestive Enzymes - Do You Feel Tired After Eating?

By Garrett Garrick

Digestive enzymes are very important when it comes to health. When it comes to digesting food efficiently, digestive enzymes cannot be left out of the picture. They are needed to break down food, and they help us digest properly.

Where do we get digestive enzymes? Our body provides us with many different kinds of enzymes for digestion. As many know, digestion starts in your mouth. Your saliva glands, when you are chewing, release the enzyme salivary amylase which breaks down starches into sugar

When food enters your stomach after you swallow, gastric enzymes are secreted to help further the break down of the food you ate. Each digestive enzyme released by your body has a special role in the breaking down of food.

Your pancreas plays a vital role as your primary digestive gland. It secreted eight different enzymes that all have a different role in digestion.

The small intestine itself secretes many kinds of enzymes. Your liver and gallbladder also aid in secreting enzymes.

We also can get a dose of digestive enzymes from fruit and vegetables. Here is another reason why fruits and vegetables are important, because they contain enzymes that help digest themselves.

The problem is that through our popular methods of growing, harvesting, packing, and transporting produce, they contain fewer nutrients than normal.

Do you feel tired or sluggish after you eat food? If you are low in digestive enzymes, your body will have to compensate by working harder and longer than normal. This can make you tired and sluggish after a meal.

A lack of digestive enzymes causes digestive stress. Uncomfortable gas, tiredness after eating, indigestion, and more can be improved by increasing your digestive enzymes.

What causes us to produce fewer digestive enzymes? Low nutrient food forces our body to make more enzymes then normal, which places it under stress. Over time this repeated stress can cause it to work less efficiently and release less. Age can also play a factor in producing fewer enzymes.

As you can see, it is extremely important to have a healthy supply of digestive enzymes. When your body becomes deficient in them, a slew of problems can arise. One way of making sure you get a healthy supply is to take a digestive enzyme supplement. It makes it so your body doesn't have to work as hard to digest, and it also helps you stop feeling so tired after meals. - 17268

Organic Fair Trade Coffee: An Explanation

By Ali Bautista

Common among politically conscious java drinkers, "Organic Fair Trade Coffee" is a phrase we hear a lot, but is not often explained. "Why should I seek out and purchase this particular kind of coffee?" One might ask. "How can I tell which brands fit this description and even then, where can I find it?" Well, hopefully all of those questions can be answered in the following paragraphs.

The Reason

Think about what you probably paid for the last latte you had -- 3, 4 dollars? Well, if you compared that to the wage of farmers who labor seven days a week to provide not only that cup but millions more, you'd probably be upset. You see, in poorer nations, especially in South America, farmers barely make enough money to feed their families. The idea behind this cause is to pay these workers the price they deserve for cultivating the beans. No more, No Less.

What To Look For When Purchasing

This is really easy. You've probably already seen it, but certified coffee has its own little logo to help the curious shopper. Above the word "CERTIFIED" is a line drawing of a black and white man (similar to a yin-yang) holding two coffee baskets. Observe the packaging next time and you'll see whether that particular brand meets the standards.

Where to Purchase

Nowadays, just about every major supermarket carries at least one certified brand; it's just a matter of flipping some bags over to check. If you patronize a smaller market that does not carry it, it's probably just a matter of making a request to the staff. Now, even the most common of all shops offers it up. Yep, every Starbucks will serve you certified coffee upon request.

So, hopefully, these words have offered a bit of revelation on the idea being Organic Fair Trade Coffee -- not just to the particularly unfair treatment of hardworking farmers with no way to stand up for themselves, but to just how easy it is to at least not support this kind of treatment. Maybe, now, you'll even be able to share this knowledge with a friend or relative. - 17268

Day 21 on my HCG Hormone Therapy Program

By Amelia Handley

The results I've seen on the HCG hormone therapy program are absolutely amazing. So it shouldn't amaze me that there continues to be massive amounts of online and person to person discussion of the benefits of HCG dieting. I'm amazed by my own fabulous results so I guess it's only natural that there are countless other people out there being just as amazed by their own weight loss.

During the course of my program I've lost 18 pounds. I've gone from 171 pounds down to 153. (That's what I weighed this morning, Day 21, when I got on the scale). That's one pound down from yesterday's 154. I have to say...I love these fabulous results.

I also feel that I'm absolutely capable of controlling my portion sizes. I can cook a healthy meal that fills me and my family up from all fresh ingredients that takes less than 30 minutes. I can quite easily (most of the time) reach for a healthy snack instead of the all too familiar Pringles jar or box of Cheez Its.

So I've seen several lifestyle improvements as a result of my HCG hormone therapy. I love the weight loss, of course. But I'm totally excited that the actual changes in my day to day food preparation, etc. are probably going to make a big difference in the state of my general health for the long run. I've wanted to start cooking and eating healthier for years and I'm glad that this program has finally forced me to follow through on my good intentions.

First thing this morning I weighed myself. Then I took my B-Total and my HCG. At lunch I had my second dose of HCG and then had soup, grapefruit and Melbas. For dinner I had my third dose of HCG and then had chicken, strawberries and Melba Toasts with asparagus. I tried Vanilla Creme Stevia on my strawberries. It wasn't good. I think I overdid it.

I looked it up and someone else who had completed the HCG hormone therapy had discussed that the Stevia is really strong and you only need a tiny, tiny bit. So that made sense. I'll know for next time. I ate it anyway, of course. I didn't want to waste the strawberries and it wasn't disgusting, it was just far too overwhelming for the little bowl of strawberries. Next time I'll cut back on how many drops I use for sure! - 17268
